Kathrine Brandt - Voice

I studied baroque singing and early music performance at Akademie für alte Musik Bremen with Harry van der Kamp.

After graduating in 1997 I continued as a postgraduate student of early music at the Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano with Cristina Miatello, Roberto Gini and Pedro Memelsdorff.

I sing music from the late Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque, but also classical and contemporary works.

I perform regularly, both as a soloist and as a member of various early music groups in Copenhagen, Milan, Utrecht, Vilnius and Vienna.
Why "Early music"?

Don't know how many times I've been asked that question... A lot of people wonder why anyone would pick a field that is so specialised.
I knew at quite an early age, that I wanted to become a singer.
Almost by coincidence I was introduced to the marvellous sound world of the Renaissance; from that moment I knew what I was going to spend my life singning. Early music - love at first hearing!
What was it that struck my heart just like an arrow fired by Cupid?
I believe it was the magnificent sounds, the tranquil beat and the way the music really supports and expresses the words.
